Château de Brossay

It is on this clay-gravel terroir over schist, situated on the southern slope of the hillside between Cléré-sur-Layon and Passavant-sous-Layon, that the fourth generation of winemakers is carrying on the tradition, represented by Nicolas Tamboise and Benjamin Grandsart. 

The Château de Brossay vineyard now spans 45 hectares, with the vines cultivated using sustainable farming practices certified as HVE (High Environmental Value). Château de Brossay’s white wines are made from Sauvignon, Chenin, and Chardonnay; the red wines are made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grolleau, and Gamay. The Coteaux du Layon—the region’s star wines—and its great sweet wines are made possible by the region’s microclimate, characterized by mild winters, hot summers, and low rainfall.
