Château de Brossay
Château de Brossay, in Cléré-sur-Layon, lies south of the Loire in the Deux-Sèvres department. With its rich history, the building dates back to the 15th century and the winery to 1919, created by Alexis Deffois,
the 4th generation of winegrowers, led by Nicolas Tamboise and Benjamin Grandsart, has taken up the torch on this gravelly clay terroir on schist, located on the southern slope of the hill between Cléré-sur-Layon and Passavant-sous-Layon.

Today, the Château de Brossay vineyard extends over 45 hectares, and the vines are cultivated using HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certified sustainable viticulture methods. Château de Brossay white wines are made from Sauvignon, Chenin and Chardonnay grapes; red wines from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grolleau and Gamay. The Coteaux du Layon, the star of the region, and the great liquoreux, are made possible by the region's microclimate, characterized by mild winters and hot summers, and low rainfall.
