Pouilly-sur-Loire
The Pouilly-sur-Loire vineyard is located in the Nivernais region, on the right bank of the Loire River, covering the municipalities of Garchy, Mesves-sur-Loire, Pouilly-sur-Loire, St Andelain, St Laurent, St Martin-sur-Nohain, and Tracy-sur-Loire. Since a decree was passed in 1937, it has been entitled to two appellations: Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire.

Located about 200 kilometers from Paris, in the southeast of the Paris basin, the Pouilly-sur-Loire wine production area is situated on the banks of the Loire River, which greatly influences the local climate. Four very different types of soil can be found in the vineyard area: Villers limestone from the Oxfordian period (Caillottes), Kimmeridgian marl with small oysters (Terres blanches), Barrois limestone from the Portlandian period (Caillottes) and Cretaceous flint clay (Silex). The Pouilly-sur-Loire appellation covers only 32 hectares and allows only one grape variety: Chasselas. It is this grape variety that distinguishesPouilly-sur-Loire from its sister appellation, Pouilly-Fumé. Production is extremely limited, peaking at 1,500 hectoliters per year.Pouilly-sur-Loire wines are smooth and fresh, pleasant and easy to drink. The products offered by Domaine Michel Redde et Fils are nonetheless high-quality wines.
