“It still seems just as fresh, balanced, and sunny, as well as surprisingly full-bodied, but the owner, Pedro Araujo, said it lacked a bit of acidity. It is by no means flat, however. This adds perfect balance, classic aromas, and a pure expression of fruit. Yet it doesn’t resemble one of the spicy, tight Loureiros that Ameal often produces either. It’s still just a baby, and it’s a wine that generally ages well” (Wine Advocate 2019)

Wine rated (2019 guide) 89/100 (Very good wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2018 Loureiro is the winery’s classic version, which means “unaged in oak.” Of course, it’s dry and still, which is true of all the estate’s wines. It has 12% alcohol, less than 1.5 grams of sugar, and 5.8 of total acidity. It still tastes as fresh, balanced, and sun-kissed as ever, as well as surprisingly full-bodied, but owner Pedro Araujo said it was lacking a bit of acidity. It is by no means flat, however. It offers perfect balance, classic aromas, and a pure expression of fruit. Yet it doesn’t resemble one of the spicy, tight Loureiros that Ameal often produces either. It’s still just a baby, and this is a wine that generally ages well. Let’s start here and see how it ages in a few years.
