Herdade do Portocarro

Herdade do Portocarro is located in the small village of São Romão, in the Alcácer do Sal region. The estate lies along the Setúbal Peninsula, on a broad plain near the Sado River, where 18 hectares of vineyards are situated. The name Portocarro derives from the highest point in the region, known as "carro," and from the port ("porto"), which served as a major commercial hub for centuries until the development of road transport. Herdade do Portoccaro strives for excellence in each of its vintages, particularly by maintaining low yields. The wines of the Portocarro estate are distinguished by their character and complexity.
