Domaine de la Tour du Bon
The Domaine de la Tour du Bon in Bandol originally took its name from a watchtower that is said to have been built on the highest point of the site to protect the village, thus giving the area the name “Tour de Bon.” Over time, the hard work and Favorites its occupants transformed this modest farm into a winery, a member of the Bandol appellation. The Domaine de La Tour du Bon is located in the far northwest of the Bandol appellation, facing the sea.
In this natural basin, between sea and mountain, the aridity of the location is fortunately tempered by the mildness of the sea air. The elevation of the Domaine de La Tour du Bon’s vineyards, combined with the effects of the Mistral wind , ensures excellent sanitation from a phytosanitary perspective. Exceptional sunshine—300 days a year—and annual rainfall of about 400 mm create a unique microclimate where the king of red wine grapes, Mourvèdre, can express itself freely, reaching rare levels of ripeness. The vineyards of Domaine de la Tour du Bon are situated on the hills of Le Castellet and Le Brulat. The vines grow on a relatively homogeneous geological substrate composed of marl and limestone. Thanks to its natural slope, which drains heavy rainfall, the terroir possesses excellent water-regulating capacity. Under these exceptional conditions, the grape varieties characteristic of the Bandol appellation flourish fully, producing red, rosé, and white wines from Provence of exceptional quality.
