Château Barbanau

Château Barbanau is a family estate now run by Sophie Cerciello and her husband Didier Simonini. It covers 20 hectares in the far west of the Côtes de Provence appellation on a terroir where clay and limestone mix, on the slopes of a hill overlooking the sea.

The family's wine-growing history began in 1900, when Emile Bodin, the great-grandfather, decided to become a winegrower in Cassis. He then created the Clos Val Bruyère vineyard. Then, in 1989, the family acquired Château Barbanau, whose cellar had been abandoned and whose entire harvest had been sold to the cooperative since 1960. The entireChâteau Barbanau estatewas restored and the first vintage was produced that same year.

Clos Val Bruyère is a 7.5-hectare plot bearing the mark of Emile Bodin, in the heart of the Cassis vineyard. This exceptional terroir between sea, land, and sun is home to the Clos Val Bruyère and Kalahari vintages. Since 2008, the entire Château Barbanauvineyard has been cultivated using certified organic methods and has been certified biodynamic since the 2018 vintage.
