Nose
With a rich yet elegant bouquet, it opens with mineral and briny notes that evoke the estate’s seaside location, followed by delicate aromas of peppery rose, lychee, melon, and candied citrus; subtle hints of sweet spices such as vanilla and cardamom round out the profile
Palate
Consistent with the nose, it offers finesse and delicacy from the very first sip; there is a perfect balance between mineral freshness, salinity, and body, with the wine’s fullness and richness coming through. Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
This is one of the most famous estates in Provence. It belongs to the Combard family, who manage this 85-hectare vineyard, 30 hectares of which are leased. The vines, located along the coast on schist soil, have been cultivated using organic methods since 1979. Steps are currently underway to transition the entire estate to biodynamic farming. We applaud this commitment, which is no small feat for an estate of this size. While the wines are among Provence’s most reliable offerings, the family also goes the extra mile in welcoming visitors and, during the sunny days of the season, offers a cultural program well worth the visit.
