"Le Grand Saint-Paul" is produced by Jérôme Grieco, a winemaker from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, who has been consistently praised by international critics since his first vintage in 2009. In 2013, La Revue du Vin de France named it "Discovery of the Year." This wine is made from a plot of Côtes-du-Rhône Village grapes and, as Jérôme Grieco himself describes it, "is the estate's little Châteauneuf." Its lively, lovely blood-red color and tangy acidity, with a fresh and persistent finish, make it a sure bet in limited quantities!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2016 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Located on the terroirs near Orange, the 5 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape include century-old vines, which explains the intensity of the 2012 vintage presented here. The Côtes-du-Rhône wines from the same estate are also remarkable, and the young couple of winemakers now in charge are doing an exemplary job. Before this wine becomes too well known, give it a chance to find its way into your cellar.

Review and opinion by Mr. CHRISTIAN R. Published on 02/15/2016
Wine with a strong reductive aroma upon opening. Not decanted but set aside for 24 hours after opening. The aroma has faded but not disappeared. Presented as a Petit Châteauneuf, it has none of the characteristics of one, even in small quantities. The Syrah and Mourvèdre are particularly noticeable, but not the Grenache. In my opinion, it is the high proportion of Mourvèdre that is the problem. Mourvèdre is complicated, and when it is unsuccessful, it often smells like wild boar that has been running for too long.
