Tradition is alive and well at Alary, and after an already remarkable 2020, 2021 has earned the highest distinction. Gentle vinification, more infused than extracted, followed by 18 months of aging in vats, has produced this complex red wine with impeccable freshness and a refined bouquet of ripe black berries, aromatic herbs (sage), and flint. The palate is also distinguished by its velvety texture, suppleness and delicate smoothness, its finely chiseled tannins and its very long finish, imbued with morello cherry, garrigue and spices. Irresistible today, it will be even more so in a few years' time." (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About the estate:
The Alary family has been growing grapes in Cairanne since 1692, spanning eleven generations! Denis Alary took over in 1981 and now manages 30 hectares of certified organic vineyards since 2012, producing wines of consistent quality. Drawing on his experience in Burgundy and New Zealand, his son Jean-Étienne is now in charge of winemaking.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 11/30/2024
With a distinctly acidic, slightly tangy structure, this medium-bodied Cairanne expresses itself through highly concentrated flavors of red berries and fresh blackcurrants that blend with delicately spicy notes. The palate is lively and opulent, supported by very present tannins, silky and rounded by very long aging, while the persistent menthol finish completes this pleasant tasting experience. So juicy that it is just right for enjoying with a creamy risotto with chorizo and Parmesan cheese. Rating = 3.8.
