About the estate:

The Alary family has been growing grapes in Cairanne since 1692—for eleven generations! Denis Alary, who took over in 1981, now manages 30 hectares of vineyards that have been certified organic since 2012, producing wines of consistently high quality. Drawing on his experience in Burgundy and New Zealand, his son Jean–Étienne is now in charge of winemaking.

With a structure marked by pronounced acidity and a hint of liveliness, this medium-bodied Cairanne reveals intensely concentrated flavors of red berries and fresh blackcurrant that blend seamlessly with delicate spicy notes. The palate is lively and opulent, supported by pronounced, silky tannins rounded out by extensive aging, while a lingering menthol finish rounds out this pleasant tasting experience. So juicy that it’s perfectly ripe to be enjoyed with a creamy risotto featuring chorizo and Parmesan. Score = 3.8.
