Clos Saint Antonin - Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018
93-95/100

"What Favorite this Châteauneuf Favorite !"
There is only one Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018, and it is made exclusively from Grenache grapes destemmed on sandy soils in the Font de Loup and St Georges vineyards. Kirsch, blackberries, orange zest Floral incense notes give way to a dense, full-bodied Grenache that offers a complex, homogeneous texture, solid tannins, and a beautiful finish. This classic, elegant wine has a lot of character and is yet another example of a great terroir in the hands of incredible winemakers. (Jeb Dunnuck) Powdery and intense, this great cuvée reflects all the complexity and elegance of Châteauneuf du Pape.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Isabelle Sabon, sister of Christophe Sabon (La Janasse), purchased the Saint-Antonin farm (15 hectares in Jonquière) in 2014. A combination of land opportunity and commercial strategy, Clos Saint-Antonin offers the possibility of a "second" wine at La Janasse. With just under two hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, sourced from the La Janasse estate, this new label produced a very good vintage in 2016, with a rich and precise style.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
A regular feature in the Guide, often highly ranked for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône, and local wines. A 90-hectare vineyard scattered across multiple plots, run by Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabelle, children of Aimé Sabon, who founded the estate in 1973. The estate was expanded in 2015 with the purchase of Clos Saint-Antonin and its 15 hectares of vines in the commune of Jonquière.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
This 15-hectare estate, comprising an enclosed vineyard and an old farmhouse in Jonquière, was acquired in late 2014 by the Sabon family, who already own the Domaine de la Janasse in Courthézon. A cellar is due to be built soon.
