" Maison Rouge is delicious: the wine has a rich texture and body without any harshness on the palate. A lovely tannin texture coats the mouth without excess, and the oak is perfectly integrated." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2016 - RVF)

Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

A hint of blackcurrant on the nose, supple, refined, slightly austere but very natural.

About the estate:

This traditional estate owes much to the discipline and tenacity of the two Duclaux brothers, who practice impeccable viticulture on the best hillsides in the southern part of the appellation. The two Côte-Rôtie wines produced here are refined and stylish, bearing the distinctive mark of the granite terroirs in the southern part of the appellation.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the estate:

On their 6-hectare estate, founded by their great-grandfather in 1928, the Duclaux brothers devote themselves exclusively to the Côte-Rôtie appellation (two vintages, La Germine and Maison Rouge) and have no desire to produce wines from other AOCs. Their vineyard, located in the south of the appellation on gneiss soil, covers the steep slopes of Tupin-et-Semons.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 17/20 (Great wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Maison Rouge is delicious: the wine has a rich texture and body without any harshness on the palate. A lovely tannin structure coats the mouth without excess, and the oak is perfectly integrated.

About the estate:

The Duclaux estate is an old estate, established in 1928. David and Benjamin have continued to develop it over the years. They produced their first Condrieu in 2014, named Les Caillets, in tribute to their great-grandfather Frédéric Caillet, founder of the estate. The La Chana cuvée reveals a fruity style with good extraction. We love the estate's wines, which reflect the elegance and finesse of the gneiss soils in the southern part of the Côte Rôtie appellation. The perfect mastery of the aging process is also noteworthy: the wood is always well integrated.

Gilbert & Gaillard

Wine rated (2015 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Deep, violet color. Open nose, toasty oak on a background of blackcurrant and blackberry. All the elegance and velvety smoothness of Syrah in this cuvée. The fruit is silky, the oak rich, the tannins fine. Just a little patience is needed to reach maximum enjoyment.
