Domaine Lafoy
The 9-hectare estate created in 1993 by Jocelyne & Yves Lafoy is located in the village of Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte Rôtie vineyard. The Lafoy family has been involved in wine for three generations. At the end of 2011, Gaëtan, the eldest son of Yves and Jocelyne, joined his parents on the estate after various travels and professional experiences. at the end of 2011.
His first vintage, 2012, combines the experience of the father and the youth of the son, and proves to be a great success.
Climates, terroirs, and appellations are all differences that make this prestigious region so unique. The vines are planted on narrow terraces, built on steep hillsides with dizzying slopes. These very typical growing conditions allow for the production of great wines, in a climate known as Lyonnais, perfectly combining the warmth and sunshine of the Mediterranean climate with the coolness and humidity brought throughout the year by the continental influences of the Burgundy region further north.
In Côte-Rôtie, there are two distinct terroirs: the Côte Brune in the north with its iron-rich mica schist, and the Côte Blonde in the south, composed of gneiss and clayey sands called "arzels." The Condrieu AOC cultivates its identity by being the only one to have chosen a grape variety consisting entirely of Viognier. This grape variety is perfectly suited to the gneiss terroirs planted on very steep granite slopes. Viognier benefits greatly from the Mediterranean heat and sunshine.
Yves and Gaëtan share a great passion for respecting the terroir, the vines, and the harvest.
Together, they cultivate 9 hectares of vines in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, and IGP Collines Rhodaniennes.More information on the website of Lafoy
