Lafoy Estate
The 9-hectare estate, established in 1993 by Jocelyne and Yves Lafoy, is located in the village of Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte Rôtie wine region. The Lafoy family has been involved in winemaking for three generations. Since late 2011, Gaëtan, the eldest son of Yves and Jocelyne, has joined his parents at the estate after various travels and professional experiences. in late 2011. His first vintage, 2012, combines the father’s experience with the son’s youth, and has proven to be a great success.

Climats, terroirs, and appellations are all distinct features that make this prestigious region so unique. The vineyards are planted on narrow terraces, built on steep hillsides with dizzying slopes. These highly distinctive growing conditions allow for the production of great wines in what is known as the “Lyon climate,” perfectly blending the warmth and sunshine of the Mediterranean climate with the coolness and humidity brought throughout the year by the continental influences of the Burgundy region further north.

In Côte-Rôtie, there are two distinct terroirs: the Côte Brune to the north, with its iron-rich mica schist, and the Côte Blonde to the south, composed of gneiss and clayey sands known as “arzels.” The Condrieu AOC cultivates its identity by being the only one to have chosen a vineyard composition consisting entirely of Viognier. This grape variety is perfectly suited to the gneiss terroirs situated on very steep granite slopes. Viognier makes the most of the Mediterranean heat and sunshine.

Yves and Gaëtan share a deep passion for respecting the terroir, the vines, and the harvest.
Together, they cultivate 9 hectares of vineyards in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, and the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP.
