"An exceptional cuvée that needs time to reveal its full potential".
"The 2021 vintage was awarded three stars, while the 2022 adds a Favorite to the already impressive list of awards for this cuvée from the schist terroirs of the Champon, Plomb and Grandes Places lieux-dits. The jury loved its bewitching, complex bouquet of fresh raspberry, bramble and paprika, crowned by the elegant roasted notes of aging in new barrels (30% of the wine). As for the palate, full, dense and greedy, framed by powerful tannins with a tactile grain, it just needs to mellow in the cellar". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Eye
Limpid, very deep dark purple with mahogany and ebony highlights
Nose
Expressive, generous and open. The syrupy concentration of the fruit rivals the intensity of the bouquet, spices and roasted notes: fresh wood, mocha, Damask rose, smoked bacon, cherries in juice and plums in alcohol, vanilla, cocoa and Sichuan berry.
Mouth
Opulent and energetic, it asserts an accomplished power to which the warm, spicy gourmandise of the aromatics, the silky depth of the touch and the worked firmness of the structure contribute.

About the domain :
After studying in Beaune, then gaining experience in the United States and in Bordeaux, on his wife's estate (Ch. Filliol), Stéphane Pichat returned to his land to breathe new life into this ancient estate, founded by his great-grandparents. Established in 2000, he began bottling wines of impeccable quality from his 5 hectares in Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu.

About the wine:
Notes of ripe black fruit, iron, truffled earth and peppery meat emerge from Côte Rôtie Champon's 2022, a powerful, rich, tannic wine with solid mid-palate depth, abundant tannins and a good dose of acidity. This fleshy, gamey, powerful 2022 will need bottle age to be drinkable, but it should be exceptional.
