"Crozes-Hermitage haute couture!

"Always at the top, the domaine shines again with this splendid red, shaped by sixty-year-old Syrah rooted in a matrix of kaolin sand. Intense in color, it delivers a fine nose still on the reserve, with scents of forest berries and cardamom. Well-constructed, enveloping, supported by meticulous ageing and framed by fine, tight tannins, the mouth irresistibly insists on spices in a long finish that speaks volumes about its pedigree. A skilful ageing process and an excellent evolution in prospect". (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Philippe Desmeure and his daughter Émilie have developed this family estate to 30 hectares of vines. Vinification and ageing in wood produce cuvées with a habitually caressing mouthfeel. The estate shows great consistency in both colors, vintage after vintage. Good 2017.

About the wine:

Always at the top, the domaine once again shines with this splendid red, shaped by sixty-year-old Syrah rooted in a matrix of kaolin sand. Skilful ageing and excellent evolution in prospect.

About the domain :

Until 1973, Alphonse Desmeure brought his harvest to the cooperative. His son Philippe developed the estate from 1977 onwards, introducing bottled production and expanding the vineyard: 36 hectares today, spread over several communes. Émilie and Christophe, his children, have now joined the estate. An unrivalled benchmark, with wines of rare consistency.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

A juicy, concentrated, well-made red, with aromas of black cherries, cocoa and warm spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with creamy tannins. Ripe and dense, with lots of berry, chocolate and spice flavors on the palate and a savory, peppery finish. Enjoy now or cellar.

About the wine:

The Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Christophe 2023 is brilliant, with a pure, classic, mineral nose of black fruits, scorched earth, graphite and glowing embers. Aged for 15 months in barrel (70% new), it is medium-bodied and concentrated, with ripe, polished tannins and a fine finish. Although already very pleasant to drink, it will keep for a good ten years.
