Duché d'Uzès
Created in 2013, the Duché D'Uzès appellation belongs to the Rhône wine region. The Duché D'Uzès appellation covers 285 hectares, spread across 77 municipalities. Around forty winegrowers produce Duché d'Uzès wine, which comes in three colors: 58% red wine, 25% white wine, and 17% rosé wine.
The red wines are colorful, aromatic, spicy, and fruity, often with hints of licorice, pepper, and aromatic herbs reminiscent of the surrounding scrubland. The grape varieties used are Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Carignan.
Duché d'Uzès white wines reveal the complexity of their blend (Viognier, Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Vermentino): aromas of almonds, dried fruit and flowers. The taste is rich and full of flavor, always maintaining a beautiful freshness on the finish.
The Duché d'Uzès vineyard is mainly planted on clay-limestone soils. It covers the hillside plots that run along the garrigue. The geology reveals a variety of formations such as sandstone, marl, pebbles, ancient alluvium, hard limestone, etc.
