Duché d'Uzès
Established in 2013, the Duché d'Uzès appellation is part of the Rhône wine region. The Duché d'Uzès appellation covers 285 hectares, spread across 77 municipalities. About forty winemakers produce Duché d’Uzès wines, which come in three varieties: 58% red, 25% white, and 17% rosé.
The red wines are deep in color, aromatic, spicy, and fruity; they often feature hints of licorice and pepper, along with aromas of herbs reminiscent of the surrounding garrigue. The grape varieties include Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Carignan.
The Duché d’Uzès white wines reveal the complexity of their blend (Viognier, White Grenache, Roussanne, Marsanne, Vermentino), with aromas of almonds, dried fruit, and flowers. On the palate, they are rich and full of flavor, always maintaining a lovely freshness on the finish.
The Duché d’Uzès vineyards are primarily planted on clay-limestone soils. They cover the hillside plots that run along the garrigue. The geology features a variety of formations, such as sandstone, marl, pebbles, ancient alluvial deposits, and hard limestone…
