"Enthusiasts who like their Syrah with more acidity and red fruit should try Seyssuel's 2018 L'Âme Sœur Syrah. Bright raspberries appear on the nose, accented by notes of peppery spice, licorice and mocha. The palate is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and richly textured, with slightly dusty tannins that linger on the finish. It seems a little more full-bodied and rich than the last time I tasted it, but retains plenty of charm. Drink it over the next decade. (Wine Advocate 2021) - Attention, very limited quantities.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Stéphane Ogier's ambition can be measured not only by the quality of his wines, but also by his new winery. A magnificent work tool for vinifying his Côte-Rôtie and Seyssuel terroirs on a parcel-by-parcel basis. Barrel vinification is mastered thanks to long maturation periods. A reliable source of excellent Northern Rhône Syrahs, prized by top sommeliers and wine merchants the world over.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

Syrah de Sessuel, from the left bank of the Rhône, offers a beautiful expression of Syrah, both fruity and spicy.

About the domain :

Since 2014, Stéphane Ogier has been vinifying in an ultra-contemporary winery in Ampuis, giving free rein to his creative talent. Of the 18 hectares farmed by this estate, 3.5 hectares are located on beautiful Côte-Rôtie parcels. Stéphane joined his father Michel in 1997 after studying oenology in Beaune, from which he has retained a taste for elegance and finesse. The wines are made from partially destemmed grapes (50% whole harvest in the Cuvée Lancement). The precision of recent vintages, the rigorous selection of plot-based cuvées and the style now displayed by the wines place the domaine among the elite, and the third star is now in sight.
