Collines Rhodaniennes

The Collines Rhodaniennes Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) was established in 2011 to replace the Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes label, which dated back to 1981. This appellation applies to red, white, and rosé wines, whether still or sparkling.The Collines Rhodaniennes PGI appellation covers many cantons in the departments of Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Loire, and Rhône.

The soils ofthe Collines Rhodaniennes PGI are mainly granitic. Their high heat accumulation capacity contributes to the proper ripening of the grapes. The climate is semi-continental with alternating influences from the Mediterranean, continental and oceanic climates.

Single-varietal grape varieties are one of the specific features of the Collines Rhodaniennes vineyards. Red wines are mainly made from Syrah, Gamay, and Merlot. The red wines of the Collines Rhodaniennes are dense and deep, with pronounced mineral notes accompanied by aromas of red fruit. The rosés are fresh, fruity, and balanced. As for the white wines of the Collines Rhodaniennes, they are mainly made from Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier grapes. The white wines offer a pleasant liveliness and are notable for their finesse.
