Principality of Orange
The Principality of OrangePGI is a regional wine that covers the area around the city of Orange, based on the boundaries of the former territory of the Princes of Orange (1230-1793). To benefit from the Principality of Orange protected geographical indication, wines must be made from grapes harvested in the municipalities located in the cantons of Bollène, Orange, Vaison la Romaine, Valréas, and Courthézon, representing a total of 36 municipalities in the department of Vaucluse. The conditions for this label were established by the decree of March 5, 1981.

The quality of wines offered as IGP Principauté d'Orange is often more concentrated than that of departmental wines. IGP Principauté d'Orange wines account for almost 20% of the volume produced in the department and are mainly blended wines. The results can be surprising, as in the case of the wines offered by Domaine de la Janasse.
