Seyssuel Protected Geographical Indication
The Seyssuel vineyard is located in the Rhône Valley. Present in Roman times, it was abandoned for a long time and then replanted in modern times. The wines produced can bear the Collines-Rhodaniennes appellation. The Seyssuel vineyard is certainly one of the oldest vineyards in France, if not in Gaul. In fact, the Romans were already cultivating vines near Vienne La Romaine. Long deserted due to the difficulty of working the steep slopes, this vineyard was revived by a few winegrowers from the Rhône Valley. It is a truly exceptional terroir that benefits from subsoil as rich as that of the nearby Côtes-Rôties and Condrieu, but also from a very steep slope that amplifies the sunshine and, last but not least, from a narrowing of the Rhône Valley that creates a breeze that cools the vines at night and brings a lot of freshness and balance to the wines produced here.
The grape varieties are Syrah for the reds and Viognier for the whites.
