Seyssuel PGI
The Seyssuel vineyard is located in the Rhône Valley. Established during Roman times, it lay abandoned for many years before being replanted in modern times. The wines produced there may bear the Collines-Rhodaniennes appellation. The Seyssuel vineyard is undoubtedly one of the oldest vineyards in France, if not in all of Gaul. Indeed, the Romans were already cultivating vines near Vienne La Romaine. Long abandoned due to the difficulty of working the steep slopes, this vineyard was revived by a few winemakers from the Rhône Valley. It is a truly exceptional terroir that benefits not only from subsoil as rich as that of the nearby Côtes-Rôties and Condrieu, as well as a very steep slope that maximizes sun exposure, and finally, and most importantly, a narrowing of the Rhône Valley that creates a breeze which cools the vines at night and brings great freshness and balance to the wines produced here.
The grape varieties are Syrah for the reds and Viognier for the whites.
