The Les Évigneaux estate covers 10 hectares in Rasteau, a charming village in the southern Rhône Valley. This estate, consisting of 12 plots, was created in 2014 by Benoit and Frédéric Lavau. They recognized the exceptional exposure for Syrah and Grenache in particular, enabling them to craft a cuvée that delivers all the complexity and power of this cru. Perched on a hill facing the Dentelles de Montmirail, the rugged terrain of the Rasteau vineyard offers a wide variety of soils and a colorful landscape. From one terrace to another, along the slopes, the soil changes from clay-limestone to blue marl, from rounded pebbles to red marl.

With more than fifteen plots spread across the entire Rasteau appellation, the Les Evigneaux estate takes full advantage of this geological diversity, which has made the reputation of this Rhône Valley cru.

On the lower terraces, the soils strewn with rounded pebbles are ideal for Grenache grapes, which produce wines with a powerful and warm profile, typical of the southern Rhône Valley. On the slopes, poorer soils, which are clay-limestone in nature and sometimes almost sandy, deliver more subtle profiles that are equally suited to Grenache and other emblematic grape varieties of the region, such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. Blending these different profiles creates wines that are both powerful and complex, yet refined and elegant.
