The Les Évigneaux estate spans 10 hectares in Rasteau, a charming village in the southern Rhône Valley. This estate, comprising 12 plots, was established in 2014 by Benoit and Frédéric Lavau. They recognized the exceptional exposure of the site—particularly for Syrah and Grenache—as ideal for crafting a wine that fully expresses the complexity and power of this terroir. Perched on a hill facing the Dentelles de Montmirail, the rugged terrain of the Rasteau vineyards offers a wide variety of soils and a vibrant landscape. From one terrace to the next, along the slopes, the soil transitions from clay-limestone to blue marl, and from rounded pebbles to red marl.

With more than fifteen plots spread across the entire Rasteau appellation, the Les Evigneaux estate takes full advantage of this geological diversity that has built the reputation of this Rhône Valley Cru.

On the lower terraces, the soils strewn with rounded pebbles provide an ideal setting for Grenache, yielding wines with a powerful and warm profile, typical of the southern Rhône Valley. On the slopes, poorer soils—clay-limestone in nature, sometimes almost sandy—yield more subtle profiles, equally suited to Grenache as well as the region’s other iconic grape varieties: Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan… Blending these different profiles allows for the creation of wines that are both powerful and complex, yet full of finesse and elegance.
