Bastien Jolivet Estate
Located in the historic heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, this small family-run estate—which has been in the family for several generations—has been on a new path since 2014. At that time, after several years of training in France and abroad—notably under Stéphane Montez—Bastien decided to return to the estate and go into business with his father. They then stopped selling their grapes and began making their own wine. Today, the 8-hectare vineyard is planted on south/southeast-facing slopes, primarily with red and white Saint-Joseph varieties. These granite-rich terroirs, planted with staked vines and mostly tended by hand and with a hoe, are ideal for the Syrah grape to thrive. With this new vision brought by Bastien, the estate showcases its dedication and commitment through wines that quickly garnered attention. Indeed, from the very beginning, Bastien demonstrated precision and a rich, full-bodied character in his wines. Together, they strive to produce wines that are as balanced as possible and believe that the work in the vineyard is the key to achieving this. Cellar work serves to complement the grapes; vinification is traditional, carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to manage extraction. Aging and malolactic fermentation take place in barrels. These are great wines in the making.
