"Looking for a Saint-Joseph to cellar? We've found the Gem you need!"
"Well-dosed oak, with enough fresh, juicy dark fruit underneath to cope, but give it time as the barrel work is generous. Soft, sweet and luxurious, with fruit like plum and blackberry, no excess alcohol, just a rich feel. A successful wine in a woody style". (Decanter 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Jérôme Coursodon is at the head of one of the most renowned estates in Mauves. Saint Joseph wines from this part of the appellation (Mauves-Tournon) are different from those further north, around Sarras, although all are produced on granitic soils. The estate's reds are often more accomplished than the whites.

Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Established for four generations in Mauves, the cradle of the Saint Joseph appellation, father Pierre Coursodon and son Jérôme, who settled here in 1999, manage 17 hectares of vines dedicated solely to Saint Joseph, mainly in its red version. The domaine's wines have long been included in the Guide's selections: with rare consistency, they are subscribed to the stars and Favorites.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
The Coursodon family has been winegrowers since the late 19th century. The estate owns vines in the renowned areas of Mauves, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzol and Glun. The whites are full-bodied, without excessive wood. For reds, L'Olivaie comes from the heart of Sainte-Épine, in the village of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. However, recent vintages have been very demonstrative, with very pronounced oaky notes. The result is wines that are not always easy to digest. We regret that we have to withdraw one star from the domaine.

About the wine:
Nose of grilled meat and cola. Powerful, dense mid-palate with spice, charcuterie and light oak that's prominent right now. Plenty of fruit to soak up the oak over time and fine tannins very well priced. Structured and balanced, it should age very nicely.

About the wine:
The 2022 is very woody. Not surprising, given that it matured in 228-liter new French oak barrels. Pronounced wood smoke and cedar mingle with licorice, fruitcake, black cherry compote and blackberry. Looking for power and concentration? Look no further.

About the wine:
The Saint Joseph La Sensonne 2022 is still a little more modern in style and has been aged in new barrels, but I never got the impression that it was losing its classic character. It has a perfume of darker cassis and currants that gives way to gorgeous nuances of graphite, scorched earth, violets and spicy wood. This beauty is medium to full-bodied, with a minerality typical of Saint-Josephs, fine but well-built tannins and a very fine finish. A wine to discover.
