Wine rated (2020 guide) Gold Medal

About the wine:

Bright ruby color with violet highlights. A subtle nose revealing notes of bacon, spices, and smokiness, with a fruity undertone. The palate is more expressive, robust, and full-bodied, with a beautiful, sun-kissed flavor profile supported by silky tannins. Delightfully refreshing and invigorating, with a hint of herbaceousness on the finish.

Aromatic and alluring. Fruity and full-bodied, without excessive alcohol.

Review and comment by Mr. GILLES D. Published on May 23, 2022

Without a doubt, the least one can say is that this “Red Star” is impressive and shines with its opulence and full-bodied character. Straightforward from the first sip, the wine bursts onto the palate with a robust tannic structure that releases aromas of tart black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberries, cooked prunes), contrasted by notes of spice and violet. The sustained liveliness carries through to the finish, lending a touch of freshness. Rating: 4.2. This cuvée, intended for lovers of full-bodied southern wines with strong character, is best paired with game dishes or even a regional specialty such as a févolade—especially since it’s the peak season for fresh fava beans.
