About the estate:

La Préceptorie began as a challenging yet triumphant venture by the Parcé family. Young Joseph, who had been at the helm of this 32-hectare estate, stepped down at the end of 2016, and Augustin and Vincent now run the operation. Located in the Agly Valley, in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, the vineyard spans both the Maury region and the slopes of the surrounding mountains.

About the estate:

A native of Banyuls—and thus a sailor at heart—rooted in the schist soils and vineyards of the Côte Vermeille, Joseph Parcé, son of Marc (La Rectorie), arrived in Maury in 2007 as cellar master at Dom. de la Préceptorie, which had been founded in 2001. In 2017, the next generation—Martin, Augustin, and Vincent—joined Marc and took over the management of the 45-hectare vineyard.

This white wine combines well-integrated power with a supple, creamy texture, featuring the freshness of citrus and yellow-fleshed fruits blended with subtle floral notes. The overall impression lingers into a finish with a slightly toasty touch, enlivened by delicate bitter notes. Generous and offered at an attractive price, it nevertheless lacks a bit of zing and richness. It pairs nicely with Mediterranean fish grilled à la plancha or with a Sète-style saffron-infused monkfish bourride. Rating = 3.7.
