Grenat is a bit like Catalan vintage wine, aged for a few months in various barrels or casks but topped up to prevent oxidation. The appeal lies in its juicy fruitiness, but over time a very gentle and slow oxidation process takes place in the bottle, adding complexity. This 2022 vintage is on the same path: the dark color is adorned with brick-red highlights, the black fruit becomes more jammy, almost kirsch-like, the tannins soften, and the spicy oak adds complexity. A promising start." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2026)

About wine:
Grenat is a bit like Catalan vintage wine, aged for a few months in various barrels or casks but topped up to prevent any oxidation. The appeal lies in the crisp fruitiness, but over time a very gentle and slow oxidation process takes place in the bottle, adding complexity. This 2022 vintage is on the same path: the dark color is adorned with brick-red highlights, the black fruit becomes more jammy, almost kirsch-like, the tannins soften, and the spicy oak adds complexity. A promising start.
About the estate:
The origins of the estate, which has been passed down through six generations, date back to 1864. The property boasts a 25-hectare vineyard planted on a variety of terroirs. At the helm since 1989, Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil have been producing wines with strong personalities for nearly 30 years, including both dry wines and naturally sweet wines. In 2017, they sold the estate to a young couple of winemakers, Élodie and Matthieu Collet.
