"Grenat is a bit like the Catalan vintage—a wine aged for a few months in various barrels or casks but topped up to prevent any oxidation from setting in. The appeal lies in its fresh, juicy fruit, but over time, a very gentle and slow oxidation takes place in the bottle, adding more complexity. This 2022 is well on its way: the dark color is adorned with brick-red highlights, the black fruit becomes more jam-like, almost like kirsch, the tannins are rounding out, and the spicy oak adds complexity. A promising start.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2026)

About the estate:
The estate’s origins, spanning six generations, date back to 1864. The property boasts a 25-hectare vineyard spread across diverse terroirs. At the helm since 1989, Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil have been producing wines with strong character for nearly 30 years, including both dry and naturally sweet wines. In 2017, they sold the estate to a young couple of winemakers, Élodie and Matthieu Collet.
