Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated estate (2012 guide): 4* Stars (Very high-quality production)
About the estate:
“Louis and Joseph Trosset pay homage to the Mondeuse, Savoie’s quintessential difficult and demanding grape variety. It tolerates neither mediocrity nor average ripeness. Rated estate (2013 guide) 2* Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
“This 4-hectare estate is situated on the beautiful hillsides of the village of Arbin, a terroir particularly suited to the Mondeuse grape. Expertly managed by two brothers, Joseph (in the vineyard) and Louis (in the cellar), the family-owned property features vines with an average age of 25 years. The soil is carefully tilled, winemaking is carried out on a plot-by-plot basis, fermentation follows traditional methods, and aging in tanks lasts 8 to 12 months. The Mondeuse wines possess incredible character and stand out for their elegance and aromatic purity, often with a fresh, anise-like note. The very small production volumes make this estate a hidden gem, yet it produces wines of consistent quality with great aging potential.”
