Savoie
Initially recognized as a VDQS in 1957, Vin de Savoie acquired AOC status in 1973. Coming from a much larger vineyard (20,000 hectares at the end of the 19th century), the Vin de Savoie vines occupy a series of ecological niches where exposure, altitude, and soil conditions are very favorable. Estates such as Domaine Louis Magnin, Domaine Gilles Berlioz, and Domaine Charles Trosset perfectly express these characteristics through the quality of their wines.

White Vin de Savoie accounts for 71% of the total volume. There are 15 "Vin de Savoie" appellations and 4 "Roussette de Savoie" appellations. These appellations alone account for 64% of the total volume of wines. The "Vin de Savoie" AOC can produce red wines with the Gamay, Pinot, and Mondeuse grape varieties, as well as white wines with Chardonnay, Roussanne, Altesse, and Jacquère. The latter two grape varieties are only found in the Savoie vineyards. The Jacquère grape variety alone accounts for more than 1,000 hectares of the vineyard's 2,000 hectares. Mondeuse, another typical Savoie grape variety, can produce great red Savoie wines with spicy and tannic flavors that are suitable for aging. The Arbin appellation is the benchmark for this product, which is intended for discerning consumers.
