Château Croze de Pys
Château Croze de Pys is an estate that René Roche reclaimed in 1966. Previously owned by his illustrious family, Château Croze de Pys consisted solely of an abandoned vineyard located in the town of Vire-sur-Lot, within the Cahors appellation in southwestern France. On this land, consisting of a thick layer of gravel and sand, René Roche replanted Auxerrois, Merlot, and Tannât. In 1987, Jean Roche, his son and an oenologist, took over the estate and continued the work of his ancestors.
The vineyards at Château Croze de Pys are managed as naturally as possible, with close attention to each terroir, using sustainable farming methods currently undergoing certification. The small plots are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with winemaking drawing on ancestral expertise to bring out the best in each Cahors terroir. Depending on the cuvées produced at Château Croze de Pys, aging takes place in tanks or oak barrels.
