Domaine Horgelus - La Valse des Mansengs 2017
2*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
Winning the award two years running is no mean feat. Horgelus achieved this with its Valse des Mansengs, which has a touch of Sauvignon to give its Gascon vines the zest of authority that structures great white wines. A bright blonde color and an intense nose of citrus (pink grapefruit) and ripe fruit (apricot, pineapple, mango), subtly tinged with scents of boxwood, make for a most inviting approach. The palate displays impeccable balance, offering both vigor and elegance, smoothness and freshness. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019) A cuvée synonymous with pleasure!

About the estate:
A qualified oenologist, Yoann Le Menn took over the estate founded by his grandfather between Ténarèze and Bas-Armagnac in 2007, at the age of 21. Today, the estate covers 90 hectares. He produces Armagnac alongside a range of Côtes-de-Gascogne IGP wines. To preserve the aromatic freshness of the berries, he prefers to harvest at night.

Fresh, fruity but very pleasant wine with a well-balanced palate.

Very fragrant (taste), citrus, white fruit. Too much for me. I prefer drier, more mineral wines.

Drunk in November 2019. Slightly sparkling on the palate at first. Aromas of white fruit with a hint of exotic fruit. Well-balanced and long on the palate with a touch of liveliness provided by the Sauvignon. A magnificent wine to drink now.

A little green. I think there are better options for the same price.

La Gourmandise. Very typical of Gascony. A delight.

Not bad, but it needs to be opened at least two hours in advance to appreciate the subtle blend of grape varieties.
