"Savour all the richness of Marcillac, irresistible!"

"True to form, the estate has produced a high-quality Fer Servadou with a beautiful intense color and an open, complex nose of licorice, tobacco, black fruits, bell pepper, followed by undergrowth and humus. A nuanced expression that lingers on the palate, which is full-bodied, rich and oily, supported by a fine tension and firm tannins that still need to mellow. Keep in the cellar." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2026).

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Philippe Teulier has successfully developed the family estate. When he started out in 1984, he began with just one hectare. Over time and with a great deal of patience, he gradually managed to buy plots of land from his neighbors, some cultivated, some fallow, and then restored them to their former glory. Today, he has 60 hectares of land, including 33 hectares of vineyards, most of which are terraced, offering a splendid view of the surrounding area. The red color of the soil creates a striking contrast with the green of the vegetation, ranging from limestone to red sandstone. The winery, initially built to produce wine from 2 hectares, has followed the example of the vineyard and is now organized in a cascade of levels descending the hill, blending perfectly into the natural surroundings. Inside, everything can be done naturally by gravity. Philippe and his son Julien prefer to encourage rather than intervene, a philosophy that has proven successful. The attractive range is an ode to Fer Servadou, the local grape variety, also known as Mansois in Aveyron and Braucol in Gaillac.

About the estate:

When it was founded in 1984, this iconic Marcillac AOC estate had just one hectare of vines and produced around 4,000 bottles per year; it now covers 33 hectares. The estate is run by Philippe Teulier, assisted since 2006 by his son Julien. A sure bet.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Philippe Teulier is somewhat of a "boss" in Marcillac. As the driving force behind the appellation, he leads the Aveyron producers who are proud of this particular grape, the Mansois (or Fer Servadou). Julien, his son, runs the estate with him. The fluidity of their blends stems from a perfect mastery of the specific qualities of their vineyard, terraced in the Marcillac valley, a terroir likened to the mountains because of its warm days and cool autumn nights. Their three main vintages do credit to all the wines of the South-West.
