TheDr. Loosenestate has been in the same family for over 200 years. When Ernst Loosen took over in 1988, he realized that with pre-phylloxera vines over 60 years old, planted in Germany’s finest vineyards, he had the raw material to produce extraordinary, world-renowned wines. To achieve this, he drastically reduced the number of vines, used natural fertilizers, insisted on meticulous sorting of the harvest, and employed gentle methods in the winery to allow the wine to fully develop its potential with minimal intervention.
