Hartweg - Pinot Gris Grand Cru Sonnenglanz 2021 (Moelleux)
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
“The name of this grand cru from Beblenheim, ‘Éclat du soleil,’ sums up its strengths: a sheltered vineyard, facing southeast, with very little rainfall. An ideal terroir for Pinot Gris. However, the early summer of 2021 was hardly sunny, though that did not prevent Frank Hartweg from crafting two accomplished sweet wines from the variety. For this grand cru, he allowed the grapes to ripen until October 26. The wine evokes a late-harvest wine: a deep golden-yellow color; an intense nose of candied yellow fruit and honey, with a distinct smoky and toasty character; a complex, full-bodied, smooth, and warm palate, enlivened by a lively finish. (Residual sugar: 45 g/l.)” (Le Guide Hachette 2024)
