3*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

"Hail struck Dambach-la-Ville hard in the spring of 2015, but the surviving shoots produced beautiful fruit, skillfully vinified by these winemakers. An intense, green-gold color; a deep, complex, and ripe nose, balancing elderflower and bergamot; a palate that is both full-bodied and lively, built on a lively, crisp acidity that reflects the granite terroir; a long finish: a rare harmony.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018)

About the wine:

Hail struck Dambach-la-Ville hard in the spring of 2015, but the surviving shoots produced beautiful fruit, which these winemakers crafted into fine wine. An intense, green-gold color; a deep, complex, and ripe nose, balancing elderflower and bergamot; a palate that is both full-bodied and lively, built on a crisp, lively acidity that reflects the granite terroir; a long finish: a rare harmony.

About the estate:

Founded in 1905, this estate now spans nearly 7 hectares around Dambach-la-Ville, a major fortified wine-growing village located between Barr and Sélestat. Like many Alsatian producers, Jean-Louis Kamm and his son Éric—who has been running the estate since 2005—took the plunge: in 2010, they began converting their vineyard to organic farming, having previously practiced sustainable viticulture.
