Léon Boesch - Breitenberg Pinot Gris 2007 (Sweet)

Léon Boesch - Pinot Gris Breitenberg 2007 (Moelleux)

Notes: RVF 16/20, Gault Millau 15.5/20
This Pinot Gris is a wine to be enjoyed: a very elegant nose, floral at first, then citrus (bitter orange, grapefruit); the attack is rich but very well balanced by its crisp, granite-like acidity. Aromas of candied fruit, grapefruit, stone, and spices are enhanced by a full-bodied and well-structured palate. A must-try!

Rated estate (2024 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Upon returning to the estate in 1999, Matthieu Boesch quickly decided to make the transition to organic and biodynamic farming, earning certification as early as 2006. However, while sound practices are one thing, it took more time for the wines to find their balance in the glass—for the added acidity and tension to complement each other as the wine develops over time. For the past two vintages, we’ve found that this is now the case. Good news!

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

As ardent advocates of biodynamics for over a decade, Matthieu and his wife Marie represent the eleventh generation of the Léon Boesch estate, located in the heart of the Vallée Noble. Here, the Zinnkoepflé grand cru is now dedicated exclusively to Gewürztraminer, with the aim of establishing it as a benchmark for a dry, full-bodied style. The estate has been practicing biodynamic agriculture since 2000, and the winery, which opened in Westhalten in 2010, is a model of bioclimatic design. The wines possess depth and perfectly express the region’s terroirs.
