"Master of himself, he looks you straight in the eye, as no other great dry white wine in the world does." (James Suckling 2022)

"Hints of almonds and spices in the bouquet of the 2020 vintage, which also displays minerality. Deep, the wine stands out for its delicate character and exceptional ability to combine fullness and subtlety, maturity and freshness. Citrus notes blend with minerality, stone fruit notes and a touch of spice. On the palate, the wine impresses with its ability to combine intensity, verve, vigor, and finesse. It is precisely in this scenario that an exceptional wine stands out, when it is capable of performing in several registers. A wine that shines with its accomplished, persistent, full-bodied, and harmonious character. It is great, it is young, probably too young, but it is incredibly good... and perfectly balanced. For me, it is one of the greatest Alsatian wines I have ever tasted." (Yves Beck 2025). • Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of one bottle of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

The Ribeauvillé estate is slowly evolving to keep pace with the times. After shifting its focus to grand cru wines, Trimbach is now converting to organic farming (certification expected in 2023). The process will involve its grape and wine suppliers. Riesling reigns supreme here (55% of production). The terroirs are ideal: marl-limestone (Geisberg, Mandelberg, Clos-Saint-Hune au Rosacker) or granite (Schlossberg, Brand). The Frédéric-Émile cuvée blends the Osterberg and Geisberg grands crus. The 2017 and 2019 vintages will go down in history.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

A must-visit estate that stands proudly in the beautiful city of musicians, Trimbach delights wine lovers with its legendary Frédéric-Émile and Clos Sainte-Hune vintages. Depending on the vintage, Pierre Trimbach vinifies Riesling in a vertical style, always dry. His brother Jean manages sales worldwide. They are now supported by the new generation, Anne and Frédérique (Pierre's daughters) and Pauline and Julien (Jean's children). The family vinifies nearly 60 hectares of their own vineyards and around 100 hectares of purchased grapes. Certain grands crus have been claimed since 2009 and are allocated directly in small quantities by Jean Trimbach to the world's finest restaurants. The house undeniably contributes to the promotion of Alsace wines with internationally renowned vintages, while producing entry-level wines of consistent quality. The range of Pinot Noirs still has room for improvement.

About wine:

The 2020 Riesling Clos Sainte Hune comes from a 1.6-hectare plot located in the Rosacker Grand Cru. The nose is smoky and earthy, with notes of mirabelle plum skin. The palate is immediately creamy, with a beautiful note of fresh and cooked mirabelle plum, which brings out the charm of stone fruit, which currently dominates the essential minerality and concentration. The fruity charm hides the essential depth and freshness of the terroir, the deep minerality and the magnificent and extremely balanced texture. The finish is salty, concentrated, and tangy. A picture of balance. (Very dry)

About wine:

As incredibly dense as it is precise and concentrated, this wine possesses exceptional purity and originality. Master of itself, it looks you straight in the eye, like no other great dry white wine in the world does. The finish is extraordinary, dazzling, stimulating, and inspiring. And, yes, it also has wonderful fruitiness, a very invigorating acidity, subtle minerality, and much more! Drink upon release in 2024.
