“With rich aromas of forest floor and dried fruit, it is dry and mouth-watering, with a lovely presence on the palate—flavorful and straightforward—and ideal with sautéed mushrooms. This is the style we’d love to see in so many Pinot Gris wines from Alsace!” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines 2017)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
The work of Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who carry on the family winemaking tradition dating back to 1691, has been exemplary for several years now. Based in Orschwihr, on a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate, charismatic duo dedicated to a job well done. And they’re taking on more and more projects: designing a new bottle, installing dozens of beehives and birdhouses throughout the vineyards.... Each has their own role: Marie handles marketing, while Jean-Paul works in the vineyards and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, meticulous winemaking, and precise aging sum up the work of this leading estate, where the focus on individual plots is ever-present, even in the crémants. The excellence of their lineup suggests they may rise in our rankings!

Simply a treat! It had been a long time since I'd treated myself to an Alsatian Pinot Gris...

A wine of great character and absolute integrity... balanced in both richness and residual sugar.
