Wynns Coonawarra Estate
John Riddoch, a Scotsman and founder of the Wynns Connawarra estate , is known for having been a great visionary in his acquisitions. The story begins in 1891 with the purchase of more than 800 hectares of land in Coonawarra, one of Australia's oldest wine regions.
Named "Terra Rossa" because of its soil composed of oxidized red earth, it is also Australia's coldest region, providing the ideal climate for a grape variety such as Cabernet Sauvignon, which is highly resistant to low temperatures. The Wynns Connawarra estate harvests its grapes by hand. The wines are generally aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (65%) and barriques (35%).
