John Riddoch, a Scotsman and founder of Wynns Connawarra, is known for having been a great visionary when it came to his acquisitions. The story begins in 1891 with the purchase of more than 800 hectares of land in Coonawarra, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions. 

Known as the “Terra Rossa” due to its soil composed of oxidized red earth, it is also Australia’s coolest region, offering an ideal climate for a grape variety like Cabernet Sauvignon, which is highly resistant to low temperatures. Wynns Connawarra harvests its grapes by hand. The wines are typically aged for 16 months, with 65% in French oak barrels and 35% in barriques.
