"A Gamay for some sunny tapas!"

This Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes is made from vines growing at higher elevations on sandy, granite-rich soil midway up the hillside, which promotes rapid ripening; this is undoubtedly the earliest-ripening area in Beaujolais. Whole-cluster vinification is essential to ensure that this cuvée fully expresses the fruit and complexity of the small plot of land where it was grown.

Winemaking

Whole clusters from 50- to 80-year-old vines vinified in two tanks; carbonic maceration to bring out the fruit and freshness, while the age of the vines provides the power; a blended cuvée that is not 100% estate-grown (with a portion of purchased organic grapes); only 10 mg of sulfur added at bottling

Livestock farming

6 to 7 months on fine lees in tanks

Nose

A very appealing nose of fresh red berries and black cherries

Palate

All of this gives this wine a sense of strength and suppleness, freshness, and a lovely smoothness; it is mellow
