Jean-Claude Lapalu
This distinguished Beaujolais winemaker produces wines with precision and care, resulting in a character that is immediately apparent in the glass: signature wines with a strong personality. Jean-Claude Lapalu is based in Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne, at the foot of Mont Brouilly, where he cultivates 12 hectares of vineyards with low yields, particularly on plots of old Gamay vines dating back up to 70 years. His philosophy is to capture the essence of this granite terroir through wines that are true to their origins.

Inspired by oenologist Jules Chauvet, Jean-Claude Lapaluapproaches winemaking with a "natural" philosophy, yet always crafting precise, powerful, and complex wines. The choices made in the cellar are essential: rigorous sorting, carbonic and semi-carbonic maceration, and unfiltered juice for an intense, flavor-rich expression. The estate’s premier cuvées, La Croix des Rameaux and Cuvées des Fous, have found their place on the finest tables, to the delight of discerning gourmets. A must-visit for any Beaujolais enthusiast!
