Jean-Claude Lapalu
This distinguished Beaujolais winemaker produces wines with precision and care, resulting in a character that is immediately apparent in the glass: signature wines with strong personalities. Jean-Claude Lapalu is based in Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne, at the foot of Mont Brouilly, where he cultivates 12 hectares of vineyards with low yields, particularly on plots of old Gamay vines up to 70 years old. His philosophy is to express this granitic terroir through wines that are true to their origins.

Inspired by oenologist Jules Chauvet, Jean-Claude Lapaluapproaches winemaking with a “natural” philosophy, yet always crafts precise, powerful, and complex wines. The choices made in the cellar are essential: rigorous sorting, carbonic and semi-carbonic maceration, and unfiltered juice to ensure an intense and richly flavored expression. The estate’s premier cuvées, La Croix des Rameaux and Cuvées des Fous, have found their way onto the tables of the finest restaurants, to the delight of discerning gourmets. A must-visit for any Beaujolais enthusiast!
