Terrière Castle
A 28-hectare estate in the heart of the Beaujolais wine region, Château de la Terrière is one of the oldest estates in the region and has stood opposite Mont Brouilly in Cercié since the 14th century.
The ninth generation of a family of winegrowers, Grégory Barbet took over the château in 2003. He also owns Domaine de la Pirolette with his wife Virginie.
Frédéric Maignet is the wine expert at Château de la Terrière. He is also a consultant oenologist for numerous estates in Beaujolais.

The 28-hectare vineyard planted with Gamay and Pinot Noir consists of:
  • 12 hectares in a single block in the Brouilly AOP
  • 5 hectares in the Régnié AOP in the locality known as La Sibérie
  • 2 hectares in Fleurie AOP
  • 3 hectares in the Moulin-à-Vent AOP
  • 6 hectares of Burgundy Pinot Noir AOP

The Château's vines are on average 50 years old and face south, halfway up the slopes, on a hill of deep, weathered pink granite for the Brouilly and Régnié wines, on granite soils rich in iron oxide and manganese for the Moulin-à-Vent, and on sandy, well-drained soils for the Fleurie.

In 2010, the estate became a pioneer by planting Pinot Noir grapes in Cogny, in the Pierres Dorées region.
