Château de la Terrière
A 28-hectare estate in the heart of the Beaujolais wine region. Château de la Terrière is one of the oldest estates in the region and has stood facing Mont Brouilly in Cercié since the 14th century.
The 28-hectare vineyard, planted with Gamay and Pinot Noir, consists of:
The Château’s vines are on average 50 years old and face due south, situated midway up the slopes: on a hill of deep, weathered pink granite for the Brouilly and Régnié wines; on granitic soils rich in iron oxide and manganese for the Moulin-à-Vent; and on sandy, well-drained soils for the Fleurie.
Grégory Barbet, a ninth-generation member of a family of winemakers, took over the château in 2003. He also owns Domaine de la Pirolette with his wife, Virginie.
Frédéric Maignet is the wine expert at Château de la Terrière. He also serves as a consulting oenologist for numerous wineries in the Beaujolais region.
