Clos de la Roilette
Clos de la Roilette in Fleurie was named by its former owner in the 1900s, in memory of the best horse he owned in a racing stable in Paris. The horse's head emblem was registered and now features on the estate's label. Although it appears never to have been surrounded by walls, Clos de la Roilette consists of a large plot of land on a beautiful east-facing hillside in Beaujolais.
Today, the Coudert family is at the helm of Clos de la Roilette, a beautiful 14-hectare estate whose vines, averaging 40 years old, grow on sandy clay soil with a granite subsoil rich in manganese. It is worth noting that a new plot has been acquired in Brouilly and Champagne in recent years. The Clos de la Roilettevineyard is now managed using sustainable methods that respect the soil and the vines. Clos de la Roilette produces fine, well-balanced red wines.
