Clos de la Roilette
Clos de la Roilette in Fleurie was named by its former owner in the 1900s, in memory of the finest horse he owned at a racing stable in Paris. Thus, the horse-head emblem was adopted and now features on the estate’s label. Although it does not appear to have ever been surrounded by walls, Clos de la Roilette consists of a vast plot situated on a beautiful, east-facing hillside in the Beaujolais region.

Today, the Coudert family runs Clos de la Roilette, a beautiful 14-hectare estate whose vines—averaging 40 years old—grow on sandy-clay soil over a granite subsoil rich in manganese. Of note are new plots acquired in Brouilly and Champagne in recent years. The Clos de la Roilettevineyard is now managed using sustainable viticulture practices that respect both the soil and the vines. Clos de la Roilette produces refined and well-balanced red wines.
