"The nose is intense, juicy, and peppery. The overall impression is ripe yet fresh. The oak is enveloping without being dominant at this stage. The juice is dense and tight, with a beautifully intense structure that requires aging. A serious wine." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2017 - RVF)

Wine rated (2018 guide) 16,5/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

A very structured wine with great elegance. Great finesse, magnificent texture. A wine for aging.

About the estate:

COMMENTARY Retirement: 5 hectares in Morgon, in the most beautiful locations, Corcelettes, Grand Cras, and Côte de Py! That was in 2013. Since settling there, year in, year out, Mee Godard has been moving forward, progressing, and building. A hectare of Moulin-à-Vent here, a new building there, and wines that continue to improve. The Godard style is very pure wines, never sterile, airy but structured, which exude their origin. Add to that a richness that was perhaps lacking in her first vintages and which is the cornerstone of the superb 2017s. Everything is good at Godard, it's a shame there's so little of it!

About wine:

About the estate:

A trained oenologist with no background in winemaking, Mee realized her dream in February 2013 when she took over the plots of a winemaker who had given up. Her small estate consists of very old vines in the best terroirs of Morgon (Corcelette, Grand Cras, Côte du Py). A Moulin-à-Vent cuvée was added to the range in 2016. With her free-spirited but well-defined wines, Mee Godard is going from strength to strength!

Finally, we can approach it, with notes of black fruits and spices, giving the impression of being in the Rhône region (well, it's true, it's not far away!). Lovely.

An astonishing Morgon, still closed and extremely powerful. Set aside for a few years to appreciate the aromas of red fruit and undergrowth that are already beginning to emerge.
