Adorned with an intense purple color, this cuvée reveals a magnificent bouquet of finesse. The pulp intoxicates the palate, which is captivated by its silky texture and tamed tannins. The persistence makes our mouths water. A great bottle that promises to age beautifully for ten years.

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 17.5/20 (2017 vintage) (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
COMMENTARY Retirement: 5 hectares in Morgon, in the most beautiful locations, Corcelettes, Grand Cras, and Côte de Py! That was in 2013. Since settling there, year in, year out, Mee Godard has been moving forward, progressing, and building. A hectare of Moulin-à-Vent here, a new building there, and wines that continue to improve. The Godard style is very pure wines, never sterile, airy but structured, which exude their origin. Add to that a richness that was perhaps lacking in her first vintages and which is the cornerstone of the superb 2017s. Everything is good at Godard, it's a shame there's so little of it!

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
A trained oenologist with no background in winemaking, Mee realized her dream in February 2013 when she took over the plots of a winemaker who had given up. Her small estate consists of very old vines in the best terroirs of Morgon (Corcelette, Grand Cras, Côte du Py). A Moulin-à-Vent cuvée was added to the range in 2016. With her free-spirited but well-defined wines, Mee Godard is going from strength to strength!

A very good wine, definitely worth waiting for. When tasting it, some good tasters thought it was from Languedoc, and I even think some said Southwest France (Malbec, Tannat, etc.).

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 10/30/2020
Medium to deep ruby color with a purple rim and still lots of purple in the core. Brilliant color! Something very interesting happens on the nose. At first, I smell a Bordeaux, Margaux type. Primarily terroir, then fruit. Everything is still very compact and closed. This may require a little more aeration! ...and it will definitely need a few years. On the palate, an explosion of dark cassis and blackberry fruit, as well as blueberries and red currants. Followed by dark, spicy, and earthy notes. Also some barn and farmyard notes. Deliciously pure. Lots of substance and still plenty of tannins, giving it plenty of grip and backbone. Enormous concentration, actually, with a lovely freshness that lends the wine elegance. Beautiful balance. The wine has great aging/maturation potential. Now in its youth, it's great to open a bottle, but it will only really come into its own after about 5 years of bottle aging. Peak 2025, can be kept until 2030. This could be really great. Score: 17.5+/20

As a regular fan of Côte du Py wines, I am very surprised by the excellent ratings given by various guides, as they are not on par with other Côte du Py wines.
