Robert Parker
"An elegant fruitiness with supple tannins and a fresh finish."
"Reserved aromas of grilled meat, redcurrant, black plum, black olive, and dried red cherry open up on the nose. The chalky palate, sprinkled with graphite shavings, is supported by firm tannins. Decant and drink now, but this still-young wine would benefit from bottle aging if opened from 2026 onwards to show its best." (Wine Enthusiast 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2021 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The estate, owned by Beaune-based Louis Jadot but managed independently, has grown considerably since its acquisition in 1996. The vineyard covers 90 hectares, mainly in Moulin-à-Vent, of which it is one of the leading specialists. It owns plots in the best areas such as Rochegrès, La Roche, Carquelins and, more recently, La Rochelle. Cyril Chirouze is continuing the work of excellence begun more than fifteen years ago.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2025) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About wine:
A cuvée that is the result of blending the estate's eight terroirs within the appellation. With good length and solidity, it offers a full-bodied and powerful structure that promises to develop beautifully over the coming years.

Wine rating (2024 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent displays aromas of blackcurrant, stewed blackberry, violet petals, candied peel, and subtle hints of sandalwood. The medium-bodied to full-bodied palate has a dark fruit core built around chalky tannins that steadily intensify and end with a young, grippy finish. Will the tannins prevail?
About the estate:
Is the 2018 vintage the finest produced to date at Château des Jacques under Jadot's management? That is certainly the question I asked myself when tasting these new wines, and Cyril Chirouze and his team deserve the warmest praise for what they have achieved. When Jadot acquired this vast historic property in 1996, the winemaking process was redesigned with a Burgundian emphasis, introducing destemming, long maceration, new wood, and extended aging. To my palate, the woody component of the wines was sometimes too prominent, even with bottle age; and that is why these 2018s stand out: they are simply the best-integrated wines I have tasted from Château des Jacques between 1996 and today. Deep, concentrated, and elegantly muscular—after all, 2018 was a hot year—these are serious wines, built for the cellar, and I am very optimistic about their future. All the wines reviewed here come highly recommended.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About wine:
The composition of the blend offers a complete style, with the richness and dimension of windmills. Still slightly tight, there is a hint of precise tannins, which stretch out the full, enveloping texture.
About the estate:
Since its acquisition in 1996 by the Beaune-based Louis Jadot, the estate's signature style has been fully established and "Les Jacques" shines as a model of Beaujolais for aging, while continuing to rely on Burgundian methods. After the Guillaume de Castelnau era (director from 2000 to 2014), Pierre-Henri Gagey handed over the reins in 2016 to Cyril Chirouze, an agricultural engineer and oenologist who had been making wine there between 2007 and 2013. The single-vineyard wines require a minimum of five years of aging to fully express the identity of their terroir. It is clear that the transition to organic farming and the construction of the new winery have enabled the estate to reach a new milestone in the definition of its wines. We will be following this progress closely.

About wine:
The Moulin-à-Vent 2022 has a savory, marine bouquet, with notes of shelled oysters infusing black fruits. The delineation is fine. The palate is medium-bodied, with slightly dense tannins, spicier than the Morgon, with a little more liveliness and pepper on the finish. Very nice.

About wine:
A mineral and flavorful Moulin-à-Vent with aromas of wet stone, bark, strawberry, and rosemary. It is medium-bodied, fresh, and elegant with fine tannins. Excellent length. Drink now or cellar.
