Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
More fruit maturity than traditional wines, but perhaps not the full expression of the unique terroir of Les Rochelle. Beautiful texture and full body, but the finish lacks a little smoothness.
About the estate:
The very dynamic and friendly Lardet family—Delphine, Jocelin, Stéphane, and their father—have confirmed our expectations with more accomplished wines in recent vintages (the barrels have aged...). More precise, without losing any of their power, the wines assert themselves with authority. Unfortunately, the estate has not escaped the ravages of the climate that have affected the vintage. Quantities are low but of high quality. Wine lovers should hurry while waiting for the 2018s, which were still aging during our visit.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2023 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Formerly known as Dom. du Petit Chêne, this Moulin-à-Vent vineyard (8 hectares) was taken over in 2012 by Paul Lardet, an industrialist at the head of a metallurgy company manufacturing winery equipment. He renamed it Le Nid in 2014 and runs it with his three children using sustainable farming methods and customized cultivation techniques. A vineyard that produces very consistent quality.
