Château Haut-Prieur
Château Haut-Prieur has been a family-owned estate for over 150 years and comprises 8 hectares of contiguous vineyards located in the Premières Côtes de Blaye, in the Bordeaux region. The Château Haut-Prieur vineyard stretches across a clay-limestone hillside with superb south-facing exposure overlooking the river. The single plot, where the average age of the vines is nearly 40 years—with the oldest reaching as much as 60—is planted with Merlot and Malbec, a grape variety that has been unjustly neglected in the region for several generations. These two grape varieties, which thrive wonderfully on this limestone terroir, contribute to Château Haut-Prieur: one provides the deep color and spicy aromas, while the other brings all the roundness, velvety texture, and finesse to this great wine.

For several years now, under the guidance of Christian Veyry, an oenologist at the Michel Rolland laboratory, the owners of Château Haut-Prieur have been cultivating this excellent terroir using sustainable viticulture practices, including plot-by-plot selection, severe pruning, leaf removal, and green harvesting to reduce yields and improve grape quality. His advice on winemaking and aging results in wines that are deeply colored, rich, and concentrated, with a nose of black fruit, yet remain well-rounded with silky tannins. A profile highly appreciated by connoisseurs.
