Château Haut-Prieur
Château Haut-Prieur has been a family estate for over 150 years and comprises 8 hectares of vineyards in a single block located in Premières Côtes de Blaye, in the Bordeaux region. The Château Haut-Prieur vineyard stretches across a clay-limestone hillside with superb south-facing exposure overlooking the river. The single plot, where the average age of the vines is close to 40 years, with the oldest reaching 60 years, is planted with Merlot and Malbec, a grape variety that has been wrongly abandoned in the region for several generations. These two grape varieties, which thrive on this limestone terroir, give Château Haut-Prieur, on the one hand, its deep color and spicy aromas and, on the other, all the roundness, velvety texture, and finesse of this great wine.

For several years now, under the guidance of Christian Veyry, oenologist at the Michel Rolland laboratory, the owners of Château Haut-Prieur have been cultivating this excellent terroir using sustainable methods, with plot selection, severe pruning, leaf removal and green harvesting to reduce yields and improve the quality of the grapes. His advice on vinification and aging has resulted in wines that are very colorful, rich, and concentrated, with a nose of black fruits, but remaining well-rounded, with silky tannins. A combination that is highly appreciated by connoisseurs.
