"... It was the only single-varietal Sauvignon among our Best In Show wines this year—and its herbaceous freshness, purity, and presence make it a big winner... About wine:
BEST IN SHOW AWARD: Bordeaux is rarely recognized as a source of high-quality Sauvignon—because the varietal message in this part of the world is often obscured rather than validated by origin, and because many Bordeaux white wines are based on traditional blends from Pessac-Léognan and Graves. This was the only single-varietal Sauvignon among our Best In Show wines this year—and its herbaceous freshness, purity, and presence make it a big winner. Our judges felt, however, that origin was part of its appeal—palpable through the soft grain of its lightly oak-infused aromas, as well as the vinous momentum and length of its palate. At this price, don't look for complexity or concentration, but there is a classiness to the fruit that is rare at this level and will give Sauvignon lovers much pleasure.

Disappointed, I expected better, a wine lacking in character.

A very distinctive Sauvignon. Best served very chilled to bring out its acidity, which is softened by aging in wood. It's clearly very good value for money, but in terms of grape variety, it's a far cry from the Loire Valley benchmarks.
