About the wine:
"BEST IN SHOW" AWARD: Bordeaux is rarely recognized as a source of high-quality Sauvignon Blanc—because the varietal character in this part of the world is often obscured rather than enhanced by its origin, and because many Bordeaux white wines are based on the traditional blends of Pessac-Léognan and Graves. It was the only single-varietal Sauvignon among our Best In Show selections this year—and its herbaceous freshness, purity, and presence make it a standout winner. Our judges, however, felt that its origin was part of its appeal—evident in the soft texture of its lightly oak-infused aromas, as well as the vinous liveliness and length on the palate. At this price point, don’t look for complexity or concentration, but there is a class to the fruit that is rare at this level and will bring great pleasure to Sauvignon lovers.

I'm disappointed; I was expecting better. It's a bland wine.

A very distinctive Sauvignon. It’s best served very chilled to bring out its acidity, which has been somewhat softened by oak aging. It’s clearly excellent value for money, but in terms of the quintessential character of the grape, it falls short of the benchmarks from the Loire Valley.
