Château Fleur Haut Gaussens - Bordeaux Supérieur 2022

For the past half-decade, this Entre-Deux-Mers appellation has been winning over wine lovers with its full-bodied wines, featuring expressive fruitiness that blends beautifully with toasty oak notes.

With a rather opulent style, characterized by floral and fruity aromas, along with a hint of vanilla from barrel aging, this wine holds its own. Full-bodied, round, and well-structured, with tannins that are still tight, it pairs well with grilled duck breast or duck with olives. 2025–2029

Starting with his family’s vineyard on the right bank in Vérac, near Fronsac, Hervé Lhuillier has created a true premium Bordeaux brand, built on the foundations of depth, authenticity, and carefully controlled oak aging. New vines of Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, planted on exposed limestone (the quarries are open to visitors), will soon begin producing grapes. While the density-sorting machine brought greater precision to the 2018 vintage, we remain unsatisfied with the somewhat excessive extraction and aging. Let’s give the wines time to settle before considering removing the star.

A pleasantly fruity nose of strawberries, raspberries, and licorice. This medium-bodied red wine is fresh and juicy, with slightly bitter tannins reminiscent of tea. Best enjoyed in 2025.

The bouquet of the Fleur Haut Gaussens is very inviting. It immediately reveals fruit and freshness through hints of mint and red berries. This freshness carries over nicely into the attack. With good body, the wine displays tannins that are still somewhat angular, but they are well-integrated, and there is enough substance to round it all out.  2027–2037

A deep purple color with violet highlights and a black core. An intense, slightly airy nose with notes of blackberry and violet. On the palate, firm tannins, fairly full-bodied, and a lovely finish.
